So I was watching the news yesterday – that’s not normal for me because let’s face it, the news is pretty depressing these days – and I saw this story about a 28-year-old woman here in Ottawa who has just been diagnosed with ALS. She is married and has 3 small children. I was 27 when my symptoms started but it took the doctors 3 years to finally diagnose me with ALS. Needless to say, I know what she’s going through. They are doing a fundraiser to not only help the family with the finances of every day living with now only one income, the upcoming expenses that will come with anyone with disabilities – and believe me when I say that anything made to help a disabled person is expensive – and to grant the family the wish of going to Disneyland to make memories before it’s too late.
I never had children – my only regret – but if I had those 3 beautiful babies when I was diagnosed, I would have been eternally grateful if random people helped me create meaningful memories before I lost the ability to do so. So I gave a donation and I’m asking you to do so as well.

Have you ever wondered what you would be like when you were old? I never thought about stuff like that until I was faced with my mortality. I guess I just figured that I would know when I got there. I think that’s normal. I did think that I would have children and probably be a Nanny. Now I wonder things like, would I have grey hair or would I have put on weight? Maybe I would have gotten bigger boobs if I had children. I have an Aunt on my Father’s side who has this amazing silver-grey hair! I hope that I would’ve had her hair but I don’t think it’s likely. I’m 43 now and only have a few greys. I think that I would probably be like my Mom and Aunt Paul and have grey hair at the temples and along the roots. I think that I probably look similar to my Aunt Darlene – minus her great hair! I’m 5′ 8 ” which is taller than my Mom’s side. So I think that I would still be tall-ish, slim-ish, a greater baker then I was, still a great cook, dyed hair (lol), maybe I would have finally embraced my inner gypsy and wearing all of those beautiful long skirts and dresses that I love so much! Do you ever wonder?

Good morning lovely lady….We all have what if’s and if only’s…You are an amazing lady Lisa and we could all learn a lesson from you but you are right to have 3 little ones must be an additional heartache for that family… I for one should count myself lucky as we all take good health for granted and that is not the case…Ice cream, however, is a sure thing and a beautiful thing…lol…Thank you for the shout out…Macha ice cream is a lovely thing as well 🙂
