Snowflake Sandwich Cookies with Maple Buttercream Filling + 5 Fun Holiday Cookie Links
I’m reblogging this post not because of the cookie recipe, though they do look absolutely delicious but because of the amazing story at the beginning. It is hauntingly beautiful!
On another note, the Occupational Therapists here at the hospital have finally decided which new computer will work best for me AND have ordered me one! Woohoo! Merry Christmas to me! Hopefully I will have the new computer and blogging away in early January! Yay!
In case I don’t post anything else before Christmas, Merry Christmas everyone! I wish you all the best, good health and love of family and friends! xo
If Tess had known she would think of him as often as she did during her final days she may have made different choices many decades ago. If she knew he would appear in her dreams, nightly, standing in the sunlight on a pathless mountainside under a blue sky while she struggled, step by step, over rocks and snow to reach him…she may have never said hello. And yet so many years ago, she initiated a simple conversation without fully releasing she also made a choice to make a space for this strange man in her mind and heart.
Tess entered his life and he her’s, grateful for a providential connection. She loved this man as she did her husband without ever really, fully knowing him.
[Boundaries remained intact. Years later when middle age became old age, gray hair to white hair, wrinkles abundant, widowed, and often alone, but seldom unhappy…

The Best Sugar Cookies In The World! – By Aunt Paul
Today my Aunt came and decorated my hospital room! Woohoo, it's Christmas in my room! I have the little Christmas tree that my Mom made me before she passed. We are not allowed to plug Christmas lights into the wall - hospital rules - so I found these tiny battery operated star lights that are … Continue reading The Best Sugar Cookies In The World! – By Aunt Paul
Chocolate Dipped Shortbread Cookies
This post is for my Mom who left us much too early. What is cool about this recipe is that it is from a great Mom who cooks and bakes for her beautiful family! I think that’s fitting soooooooo, What’s For Dinner Moms?!
My Mom made me shortbread cookies every Christmas! She always found a pretty round tin container with a decorative lid. She would line it with wax paper and put layers of giant round shortbread cookies that she scored to look like pieces of pie.
Now, if you knew my Mom you would know how HUGE that was! She COULD cook and bake BUT she really didn’t like to. Complete opposite of me! She made those cookies for me only because she knew just how much I loved them! Thanks Mom!
I don’t have her recipe so I thought that another Mom’s recipe would be just as great! I mean, have you seen how beautiful they look? I think crushed candy canes would look super festive!
Enjoy!
‘Tis the season! Cookies, cookies, and more cookies! Today is a perfect day for us to stay in and bake cookies. We have a nice fluffy 3″ of snow on the ground and are expecting at least 6″ during the day. Beautiful day to stay in and watch it snow while we bake.
I am always looking for cookies that are easy to make, taste good, and look great. These cover all three. My daughter made the cookies early one day and later in the evening we dipped them in chocolate. Add sprinkles, nuts, or crushed candy to decorate as you wish.
Verdict:
These were super simple to make and decorate. They have a moist texture that was not dry at all. Store the cookies layered with wax paper in a sealed container for us to 5 days.
Tip: Cut the cookies before you bake them. They will be easier…

Peanut Butter Cookies! Yum!
I love peanut butter! I mean, I lovelovelove it! I used to toast two pieces of bread just so I could slather them with peanut butter and get my fix. At any time of the day!
