This week I would like to start this post by continuing the meal prep advice that I gave you a couple of weeks ago. I’m going to spend a minute and talk about some basic pantry staples that I always kept on hand. I think that keeping these items in your pantry will help with your meal prep!
The first items that I always kept were raw nuts, seeds, dried fruits, canned and dried legumes and lentils, rice, pastas, canned tomatoes, sauce and paste. The raw nuts, seeds and dried fruits are great for so many things! I loved adding them to salads for extra nutritional value plus they just taste good! They’re also can be used in cooking and baked goods. The pastas and canned tomatoes are pretty self-explanatory I think. But the canned and dried legumes and lentils, maybe not so much.
I make myself laugh at myself when I think about what I would do if a zombie apocalypse ever happened! Every other person would be fighting over meat, canned goods and vegetables but I’d be alone with the rice and other dried goods! lol
I liked keeping canned beans and other legumes for quick and easy use. The dried versions are really great for when you have the extra time to work with them AND once they are ready they freeze really well! Perfect for people who are trying to save money on groceries. The dried versions are dirt cheap and will probably outlast us all! lol
